God's people were worried and tired. So God gives them three big comforts to cheer them up - and they cheer us up too.
Today's Story
God's people were feeling small and scared. So God leaned in close, like a parent at bedtime, with three things to make them feel better.
First, He said, “Look back.” “Remember Abraham and Sarah,” God said. “They were just one old couple with no children. But I blessed them, and I turned them into a huge family, too many to count! Look at the rock you were carved from. If I did that for them, I can take care of you.”
Then He said, “Look up.” “Lift your eyes to the sky,” God said. “One day even the sky and the earth will wear out like an old shirt. But My rescue will last forever. My love will never, ever run out.”
Last, He said, “Wake up!” “Do not be afraid of people who are unkind,” God said. “They are here today and gone like grass. But I am the God who made the whole sky and the sea. I am the one holding your hand. Why would you be afraid when I am taking care of you?”
Look back. Look up. Wake up. God had not forgotten His people - and He has not forgotten you.
A Big Word
Memory Verse
Talk About It
- What is something that helps you feel better when you are sad or scared - a hug, a song, a person?
- God told His people to “look back” and remember how He helped Abraham and Sarah. Can you remember a time God took good care of you or your family?
- God said His love will last forever, even longer than the sky. What does “forever” mean to you?
