For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up
God's people had wandered far away from Him. In this message, God does something amazing — instead of giving up on them, He calls them to come home.
Today's Story
God's people had walked away from Him. They had stopped listening. They had gone their own way for a long, long time.
You might think God would say, “Fine. Then I don't want you anymore.” But that is not what God said at all.
Instead, God called out to them like a loving dad calling his kids in from the yard. “Come back!” He said. “Come home to Me. I am not going to stay angry forever. I love you.”
“I had hoped,” God said softly, “that you would call Me ‘Father’ and never turn away from Me again.”
Then God made a wonderful promise. “Come back to Me,” He said, “and I will fix what is broken inside you. I will heal you. We can start fresh.”
God didn't want His kids to feel scared or stuck out in the cold. He wanted them home — close to Him, safe and forgiven. The door was wide open, and the porch light was on.
A Big Word
Memory Verse
Talk About It
- Have you ever wandered a little too far at the park or the store, and then someone called you back? How did it feel to hear your name?
- God didn't stay angry — He called His people home. What does that show you about God's heart?
- When you do something wrong, do you ever feel like hiding? What would it look like to “come home” to God instead, and just talk to Him about it?
