Jeremiah 30 for Kids

For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up

God told Jeremiah to write down a promise so the people could keep it forever — a promise full of comfort.

Today's Story

God said to Jeremiah, “Write down everything I am about to tell you. Keep it in a book, so my people can read it again and again.”

And the message was full of comfort.

God's people were having a hard time, far from home. But God promised, “This sad season will not last forever. The day is coming when I will bring you back home. I have not forgotten you.”

Then God said something so tender. “I see that you are hurting. I will make you better. I will heal the sore places in your heart, the way a parent kisses a scraped knee. Your crying will turn into laughing. Your quiet will turn into singing.”

God did not just feel sorry for His people from far away. He promised to come close and fix what was broken Himself.

So Jeremiah wrote it all down — a whole book of comfort — so that anyone who was sad could read it and remember: God heals, and God brings His people home.

Memory Verse

Talk About It

  1. When you get a scrape or a bump, who helps you feel better? What do they do?
  2. God promised to turn the people's crying into singing. Can you remember a time you felt sad, and then later felt happy again?
  3. God sees the hurts on the inside, not just the outside. What is something you could ask God to help you feel better about?
