Even while Jeremiah was stuck in a hard place, God gave him a warm invitation: just call out, and God would answer.
Today's Story
Jeremiah was still shut up in the guarded courtyard. From where he sat, things looked pretty hard. The city was hurting, and Jeremiah could not go anywhere.
But God had not forgotten him. God spoke to Jeremiah right there and said something Jeremiah never forgot:
“Call to Me, and I will answer you. I will tell you great and wonderful things you do not even know yet.”
What a kind invitation! God was saying, “Talk to Me. I am listening. And I have good things in store that you can't see from where you are sitting.”
Then God told Jeremiah the good things that were coming. “I am going to bring My people back. I will fix what is broken and make it well again. The streets that are quiet and sad will fill up with happy sounds — people laughing, children playing, and music and singing.”
God promised that His good plans were as sure as the sunrise. Just as morning always comes after night, God's kindness would surely come. All Jeremiah had to do was call out to God — and God would always, always answer.
A Big Word
Memory Verse
Talk About It
- God said, “Call to Me and I will answer.” Praying is just talking to God. What is something you would like to tell God today?
- Jeremiah was in a hard spot, but God had good things he couldn't see yet. When have you been surprised by something good you didn't see coming?
- God promised His goodness was as sure as the sunrise. The sun comes up every single morning. How does it feel to know God's love is that sure?
