Job is hurting, and his friends keep talking. In Job 15, one friend named Eliphaz speaks again — but he is not really listening to Job.
Today's Story
Job had a friend named Eliphaz. Eliphaz meant to help, but he was sure he had everything figured out.
“You are talking too much, Job,” Eliphaz said. “If your life is this hard, you must have done something wrong. That is just how it works.”
But that was NOT how it worked. Job had not done anything wrong. Eliphaz was guessing, and his guess was hurting his friend.
Poor Job. He was already so sad, and now his friend was making him feel worse instead of better.
Sometimes people say things that are not quite right, even when they are trying to help. They forget to stop and listen.
But here is the good news: even when friends do not understand, God always does. God listens better than anyone. He knew the truth about Job the whole time — and He knows the truth about you, too.
A Big Word

Talk About It
- Have you ever felt sad and wished someone would really listen to you? What would a good listener do?
- Eliphaz guessed that Job did something wrong, but he was wrong. Why is it kinder to listen first instead of guessing?
- God understood Job even when his friends did not. How can knowing God always understands you help you when you feel sad?
