Job's friend Eliphaz speaks one more time in Job 22. He still gets some things wrong — but he says one thing that is beautifully right.
Today's Story
Eliphaz was one of Job's three friends. He talked to Job one more time, and a lot of what he said was not fair. He guessed that Job must have done bad things, even though Job had not. That part was wrong, and it made Job feel even worse.
But then, near the end, Eliphaz said something lovely. He leaned in and told Job:
“Come close to God again. Make friends with Him, and you will be at peace. Good things will come to you. Let His words live in your heart.”
Even though Eliphaz had the wrong idea about why Job was suffering, those last words pointed in exactly the right direction. The best place to run, when life is hard, is straight toward God — not away from Him.
When we come close to God, He gives us a peace deep inside, like a calm in the middle of a storm. That part Eliphaz got exactly right.
