Job 23 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

In Job 23, Job feels like he is searching everywhere for God and cannot find Him. But he says something wonderful about how God sees him the whole time.

Today's Story

Job missed God. He wished he could walk right up to where God was and sit down and talk. “If only I could find Him,” Job said. “I would tell Him everything that is in my heart.”

So Job looked. “I go to the east,” he said, “but He is not there. I go to the west, but I cannot see Him. I look to the north and the south.” It felt like God was hiding, and Job could not find Him anywhere.

Have you ever felt like that? Like you were calling out but no one seemed to answer?

Then Job said the most beautiful thing. Even though he could not see God, he knew God could see him. “He knows the way that I take,” Job said. “And when my hard time is over, I will come out shining like gold.”

People make gold beautiful by putting it near heat. The fire does not ruin the gold — it makes it pure and shiny. Job believed his hard time was not the end of him. God was with him the whole way, and he would come out shining.

  2. Even when Job could not see God, God could see Job. How does it feel to know God always knows exactly where you are?
  3. Gold comes out shiny, not ruined. What is a hard thing that might be helping you grow stronger or kinder?
