Job 28 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

This part of Job is like a song. It asks a big question: where can you find the very best treasure of all?

Today's Story

Job sings a kind of song about digging for treasure.

People are very good at finding shiny things, he says. They dig deep tunnels down into the dark ground. They search for silver. They dig up gold. They chip out sparkly blue gems from the rock. Birds flying above never even see those secret tunnels. People will work hard to find treasure!

“But wait,” Job says. “There is something even more precious than gold. It is called wisdom. Wisdom means really knowing the right and good thing to do.”

“So where do you dig for that?” Job asks. “You cannot find wisdom in any tunnel. You cannot buy it with all the gold in the world. The deep ocean says, ‘It is not down here.’”

Then Job smiles, because he knows the answer.

“Only God knows where wisdom lives,” he says. “God has it. And here is how you get some: love God and listen to Him. That is where being truly wise begins.”
