For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up
Job and his three friends have been talking for a long, long time about why hard things happen. In Job 32, a brand-new person finally speaks up.
Today's Story
There was a young man named Elihu sitting nearby. He had been listening the whole time while Job and his three older friends talked and talked.
Elihu had things he wanted to say. But he stayed quiet. “They are older than me,” he thought. “I should let them speak first. Older people have lived a long time, so they should share their wisdom.”
So he waited. And waited. He waited so patiently!
But the three friends ran out of answers, and nobody had really helped Job. Finally Elihu couldn't hold it in any longer. It was like a bottle of fizzy water shaken up inside him.
“I am young, and you are old,” Elihu said politely. “That's why I waited. But being old isn't the only way to be wise. God can give understanding to anyone — even someone young like me. So please, let me have a turn to talk.”
And everyone listened.

Talk About It
- Elihu waited a long time for his turn to talk. When is waiting for your turn the hardest for you?
- Elihu said God can make even a young person wise. What is something wise you already know, even though you're still a kid?
- Why is it kind to let someone finish talking before you start?
