Two brave spies sneak into a great walled city — and find help from the most surprising person.
Today's Story
Joshua sent two spies to secretly check out the strong, walled city of Jericho before the Israelites would go there. But the king of Jericho heard about the spies and sent soldiers to find them!
The spies hurried to a house built into the city wall, belonging to a woman named Rahab. Rahab had heard all about how the God of Israel had done amazing miracles — drying up the sea, helping His people. She believed that the Lord was the true God of heaven and earth! So she bravely hid the spies and kept them safe from the soldiers.
“I know the Lord is going to give you this land,” Rahab told the spies. “Please, when you come, show kindness to me and my family, because I helped you.” The spies promised: “Tie this red rope in your window, and everyone in your house will be kept safe.”
So Rahab let the spies down the wall with a rope, and they escaped. She tied the red cord in her window and trusted God's promise. Because she believed in God and acted bravely, she and her whole family would be saved. God welcomes ANYONE who believes in Him — even someone from an enemy city — into His family.
