Judges 3 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

Again and again God's people get into trouble — and again and again, God sends someone to rescue them.

Today's Story

Remember the sad pattern? God's people would forget God and get into trouble, then cry out to Him for help. And every time they cried out, God lovingly answered by sending a rescuer, a “judge,” to save them.

The first rescuer was a man named Othniel. When God's people cried out, the Spirit of the Lord came on Othniel, and God used him to bring peace to the land for many years. God's power working through Othniel set the people free.

Later, when the people got into trouble again, God raised up another brave rescuer named Ehud. Ehud cleverly and courageously freed God's people from a cruel king who had been bullying them. Once again, God brought rescue and peace.

Over and over, the message was the same: whenever God's people turned back to Him and cried out, God heard them and sent help. He never abandoned them. God is a rescuing God — and the greatest Rescuer of all is Jesus, who came to save us forever.
