Luke 22 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

On His last night, even while teaching about His own sacrifice, Jesus shows His friends what real greatness looks like.

Today's Story

It was the Passover, and Jesus shared a special last supper with His twelve friends. He took bread, gave thanks, and broke it. “This is My body, given for you,” He said. Then He took the cup. “This is poured out for you. Do this to remember Me.” Jesus was getting ready to give His life out of love.

But then, even at this special supper, the disciples started arguing — about which of them was the greatest! Can you believe it? So Jesus gently taught them. “In the world, the big bosses love to show off their power. But it's different with you. The greatest among you should be like the youngest, and the leader should be like the one who serves.”

Then Jesus said something beautiful about Himself: “I am among you as the One who serves.” The King of everything came not to be waited on, but to serve and to give. That's true greatness.

After supper, Jesus went to the Mount of Olives to pray, getting ready for the hard day ahead. Even though it was hard, He trusted His Father. Jesus, the Servant-King, was ready to give everything for the people He loved.
