God makes two happy promises in this chapter: Someone special is coming, and you can trust Him with everything you have.
Today's Story
God had wonderful news to share. He said, “I am going to send a messenger. He will get everything ready before Me. He will help people's hearts be ready.”
It was like getting a letter that says someone you love is coming to visit! You clean the house. You make their favorite food. You watch out the window. God's people had a Helper coming to get them ready.
God also said He wanted to make His people shiny and clean on the inside, the way a silver cup gets gently polished until it sparkles. Not to hurt them — to make them beautiful.
Then God talked about giving. His people were holding tight to everything, afraid there would not be enough. So God said something amazing: “Bring Me your gifts. Go ahead — test Me! See if I do not open the windows of heaven and pour out so much good that you can hardly hold it all.”
God was saying, “You can trust Me. When you give with a happy heart, I take care of you. You will never run out of My love.”
It is the only place in the whole Bible where God says, “Go on — test Me and see.”
A Big Word
Memory Verse
Talk About It
- When someone you love is coming to visit, how do you get ready? How do you feel while you wait?
- God said we can give with a happy heart because He always takes care of us. What is something you could share happily this week — a toy, a snack, your time?
- Sometimes we hold on tight because we are scared there will not be enough. What helps you remember that God always has enough love for you?
