Mark 16 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

It's Sunday morning, and the saddest weekend is about to become the happiest day in all of history.

Today's Story

Very early on Sunday morning, some women who loved Jesus walked to His tomb, bringing sweet spices. They were sad, and they were worried about one thing: “Who will roll away the heavy stone from the tomb for us?”

But when they arrived — the huge stone was ALREADY rolled away! They went inside, and instead of Jesus' body, they saw a young man in a white robe — an angel!

“Don't be alarmed,” the angel said. “You're looking for Jesus, who was crucified. He is not here — HE HAS RISEN! Look, here's the place where they laid Him. Now go and tell His friends: Jesus is alive, and He's going ahead of you!”

Jesus was ALIVE! It was true! Death could not hold Him. The saddest weekend had become the happiest morning ever.

And Jesus, alive again, gave His friends a big and wonderful job: “Go into all the world. Tell EVERYONE the good news about Me!” Then Jesus went up into heaven to be with His Father. And His friends went out, full of joy, telling everyone the best news in the whole world: Jesus is alive! That good news has been spreading ever since — all the way to you.
