On one amazing day, Jesus feeds thousands with a boy's little lunch — and then does something no one had ever seen.
Today's Story
A huge crowd — more than five thousand people — had followed Jesus all day to hear Him teach. As evening came, they were hungry, and there was no food. The disciples were worried. “Send the people away to find food!” But Jesus said, “You give them something to eat.”
All they could find was one boy's little lunch: five small loaves of bread and two fish. How could that feed thousands? But Jesus took the little lunch, looked up to heaven, and gave thanks. Then He broke the bread — and it kept multiplying! Everyone ate until they were full, and there were twelve baskets of leftovers!
That night, the disciples were out in a boat when a storm came up. Suddenly they saw Jesus — walking on top of the water! They were frightened, but Jesus called out, “Be brave! It's Me. Don't be afraid.”
Brave Peter said, “Lord, let me come to You on the water!” Jesus said, “Come.” And Peter stepped out and walked on the water toward Jesus! But when he looked at the big waves, he got scared and started to sink. “Lord, save me!” Right away Jesus reached out and caught him. “Why did you doubt?” Jesus asked gently. When they climbed into the boat, the wind stopped.

Talk About It
- A boy gave his little lunch, and Jesus did something huge with it. What “little” thing could you give Jesus to use?
- Peter started to sink when he looked at the waves instead of Jesus. What helps you keep your eyes on Jesus when you're scared?
- The moment Peter cried “Lord, save me!” Jesus caught him. How does it feel to know Jesus is quick to catch you?
