Micah 3 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

The people who were supposed to lead and help everyone were only helping themselves. But one brave messenger was filled with God's Spirit and told the truth anyway.

Today's Story

A city has leaders. There are people whose job is to be fair when there's a fight, and teachers whose job is to point everyone toward God. That's a really important job. God expects them to take good care of the people.

But these leaders had it all backwards. The judges would only help you if you paid them money first. The teachers would only say nice things to people who gave them dinner. They were supposed to be like good shepherds — instead they used the people up and gave nothing back.

God was not pleased. He said, “You were supposed to love what is good and hate what is wrong. You did the opposite.”

Then one man stood up who was different. It was Micah. Micah said, “I am full of God's Spirit and power. And I will tell the people the truth, even when it's hard to hear.”

That took real bravery. The leaders had money and power, and Micah was just one man from a little town. But Micah wasn't worried about pleasing the powerful people. He only wanted to please God. So he told the truth.

A Big Word

Memory Verse

Talk About It

  1. Has there ever been a time when telling the truth felt hard or scary? What happened?
  2. The leaders only helped people who paid them. Why is it important to help people even when we don't get anything back?
  3. Micah was brave because God's Spirit was with him. Who can help you be brave when you need to do the right thing?
