Nahum was a messenger for God. He had a message for a big, powerful city called Nineveh — and a word of comfort for God's worried people.
Today's Story
There was a huge city called Nineveh. It was strong and rich. But the people who ran it were bullies. They were cruel to everyone around them. They pushed people down and took what they wanted. And nobody seemed big enough to stop them.
God's people were scared. They wondered, “Does anyone see how mean these bullies are? Does God even notice?”
So God sent a messenger named Nahum with news. And Nahum said, “God sees. God is patient and slow to get angry — but He is also very strong. He will not let the bullies win forever.”
Then Nahum said the best part of all. He said, “The Lord is good. When trouble comes, He is a safe place to run to. He knows every single person who trusts in Him.”
That was good news for God's tired, worried people. The big bully city looked too strong to beat. But God was stronger. And God had not forgotten His people for one second.
God is good. God is strong. And God keeps the people who trust Him close and safe.
A Big Word
Memory Verse
Talk About It
- When you feel scared, where do you like to run — to a grown-up, to your bed, to a special spot? What makes it feel safe?
- God's people were worried that bullies were winning. Have you ever felt like the mean thing was going to win? What would you tell them about God?
- The verse says God knows everyone who trusts in Him. How does it feel to know God knows your name and is taking care of you?
