Nahum 2 for Kids

For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up

In Nahum 2, God shows His messenger what will happen to the big bully city of Nineveh — and what will happen for the people it had been hurting.

Today's Story

For a long, long time, the city of Nineveh had been the biggest bully around. It pushed everyone down. It took whatever it wanted. And God's people had been hurt by it for years and years.

But God had been watching the whole time. And in Nahum 2, He told His messenger what was coming. The bully city would not be the biggest forever. Its day was almost done.

God said the strong walls of Nineveh would not keep it safe anymore. All the treasure it had grabbed from other people — the silver and the gold — would not be its treasure for long. The mean things it did to others would finally stop.

And here is the warm part. God said He was going to bring back the good things for His own people. They had been worn out and pushed down for so long. Now God was going to lift them up again and make things right.

God is patient. But God is also good and strong. He will not let cruelty win forever. In the end, He sets His tired people free.

Talk About It

  1. Have you ever waited a really long time for something to get better — maybe a sad day, or a hard week? What helped you keep going?
  2. God's people had been hurt by the bully city for years. Why do you think God waited so long before He stopped it?
  3. God promised to bring back the good things for His tired people. What is one good thing you would love God to bring back or make right?
