Nehemiah 12 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

The wall is finished and the city is full. Now it is time for the biggest, happiest party of all — to thank God!

Today's Story

The wall was built. The city was full. And Nehemiah decided it was time to celebrate and say a great big thank You to God!

People came from all the little towns around to join the party. The singers tuned up. Helpers grabbed their trumpets and cymbals. Everyone put on their happiest faces.

Then Nehemiah did something wonderful. He split everyone into two huge groups of singers. One group climbed up on top of the wall and marched one way. The other group climbed up and marched the other way, all around the city, singing as they went!

Can you imagine it? Two long lines of people walking on the very wall they had built, with trumpets blaring and voices singing thank-You songs to God.

The two groups met up at God's house in the middle. Then everybody — the moms, the dads, the children, even the littlest ones — sang and laughed and cheered.

The Bible says the joy was so loud that people far, far away could hear it. The whole city was thanking God together!
