The king still wants Balaam to say bad words against God's people. But God has a wonderful surprise in store.
Today's Story
The king really, really wanted Balaam to say bad words against God's people. He took Balaam up to a high place where they could look out and see all the tents below.
“Now,” said the king, “say something bad against them.”
Balaam opened his mouth. But you'll never guess what came out! Only good words. “How can I say something bad against people God has not? God has blessed them, and I cannot un-bless them!”
The king frowned. “Let's try a different hill,” he said. So they walked to another high place. “Try again,” said the king.
Balaam opened his mouth — and again, only good words! “God is not a person who tells lies. He does not change His mind. When He makes a promise, He keeps it. He has blessed these people, and I cannot turn it back.”
No matter where the king took him, Balaam could only bless God's people. Because when God says something good over you, no king and no plan in the whole world can take it away.
A Big Word
Memory Verse
Talk About It
- Has anyone ever said something unkind about you? How does it feel to know God says good things over you?
- Balaam could only say what God gave him to say. What is one kind, good thing you could say over someone you love?
- Our memory verse says God always keeps His promises. Why is it good to know God never changes His mind about loving you?
