Numbers 27 for Kids

Five brave sisters ask a hard question — and God shows that He listens, and He is always fair.

Today's Story

Five sisters had a problem. Their names were Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milkah, and Tirzah. Their father had died, and they had no brothers. Back then, the land was usually shared out to the sons — so the sisters worried they would get nothing at all.

But these five were brave. They walked right up to the front, where Moses and all the leaders stood, and they spoke up. “Our father is gone, and he had no sons. Why should his family be left out? Please give us a share of the land too.”

That was a big, bold thing to ask! Moses did not just decide on his own. He took their question straight to God.

And God said, “The daughters are right. Give them their own share, just like the others.” God made a new rule that day so families like theirs would always be cared for.

Then God spoke to Moses about something else. Moses was getting old. So God chose a strong, faithful helper named Joshua to lead the people next. “He will guide them,” God said, “so they are never like sheep without a shepherd.”

God listened to five brave sisters. And God made sure His people would always have someone to lead them home.
