Numbers 36 for Kids

For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up

This is the very last chapter of Numbers. God answers one more question — and He shows again that He listens, and He is fair to everyone.

Today's Story

There was a family with five sisters. Their father had passed away, and they had no brothers. A while back, the sisters had bravely asked Moses, “Can we keep our family's land?” And God had said, “Yes! That is fair. The land is yours.”

Now the leaders came with one more question. “When the sisters grow up and start their own families, will the land stay with their family, or move away to another one?”

God gave a wise and fair answer. The sisters would keep their land, AND it would stay safe with their family for good. Everyone could be happy. Nobody lost out.

Isn't that wonderful? God listened to the question. He cared about those five sisters. He cared about every family. He always wanted to do what was right and fair.

And so the big book of Numbers comes to an end. God's people had walked a long, long way. Now they stood right at the edge of their new home, with God still leading them — just as He had promised all along.

A Big Word

Talk About It

  1. Has there ever been a time when something did not feel fair to you? What happened?
  2. The five sisters asked God a brave question, and He listened. What is a question you would love to ask God?
  3. God always wants to be fair to everyone. How can we be fair to the people around us today?
