Proverbs 27 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

Proverbs 27 is full of sayings about friends - what a good friend is like, and how good friends help each other become better people.

Today's Story

Proverbs 27 is mostly about friends. Let's look at three of its sayings.

First, it says: don't brag about what you're going to do tomorrow. You can't even know for sure what tomorrow will be like! It's better to just do good things quietly than to make big noisy promises.

Second, here's a big one. A real friend will tell you the truth, even when it's hard to hear. If you have spinach in your teeth, a true friend says so! Sometimes the truth stings for a second - but a friend who tells you is helping you. Someone who only ever says what you want to hear isn't being a very good friend.

Third, the chapter says: iron sharpens iron. When you rub two pieces of iron together, they both get sharper. Friends are like that! A good friend helps you become kinder, braver, and better - and you help them too.

So choose good friends. And be a good friend back.
