Proverbs 28 for Kids

For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up

Proverbs is a book of short, wise sayings. They are like little tips from God for how to live a good life.

Proverbs 28 has lots of them packed together. Here are a few you can use today.

Today's Story

Have you ever knocked something over and wanted to run and hide? Proverbs 28 talks about a feeling just like that.

It says that someone who has done wrong runs away even when nobody is chasing them. Their heart feels jumpy and scared. But someone who does what is right feels brave, like a young lion. They can stand up tall because they have nothing to hide.

Then it says something really helpful. When you try to cover up a mistake and pretend it never happened, things go wrong inside you. But when you say, “I did it, and I'm sorry,” God is kind to you and helps you start fresh.

This chapter also says to be gentle with people who don't have much. If a friend forgot their snack or doesn't have a toy to play with, you can share. God notices that.

So Proverbs 28 gives us three little tips: do what is right so your heart feels brave, tell the truth when you mess up, and be kind to people who have less than you.

  1. The chapter says doing right makes you feel brave like a lion. When was a time you did the right thing and felt good about it afterward?
  2. Why do you think hiding a mistake makes us feel worse, but telling the truth makes us feel lighter?
  3. Who is someone you could be kind to this week who maybe has less than you do?
