Psalm 119 is the longest chapter in the whole Bible. Every part of it is about one happy thing: how much the writer loves God's words.
Today's Story
Have you ever loved something so much you could talk about it all day? That is how the writer of this song feels about God's words.
He says God's words are sweeter than honey. He says they are better than a giant pile of treasure. He keeps God's words tucked safe inside his heart, the way you might keep your most special toy.
Why does he love them so much? Because God's words show him the right way to go.
Think about walking outside on a very dark night. You cannot see the path. You might trip! But if someone hands you a little lamp, the light falls right where your feet are about to step. Now you can see. Now you are not afraid.
That is what the song says God's words are like. “Your word is like a lamp that shows me the way,” he sings. “It is like a light that guides my path.”
When we do not know what to do, the Bible helps us see the next good step. We do not have to figure out everything at once. God gives us enough light for right where we are.
