Psalms 127 for Kids

For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up

Psalm 127 is a song about who really takes care of us. King Solomon wrote it. He learned that God is the One who builds and guards and gives good gifts.

Today's Story

Imagine some workers building a house. They saw the wood. They stack the bricks. They hammer all day long. They work so hard!

But this song says something surprising: “Unless the Lord builds the house, the builders work for nothing.”

What does that mean? It means God is the real builder. We do our part - but it's God who holds it all together and makes it stand. Without Him, even our best work would fall down.

It's the same with keeping a city safe. The song says, “Unless the Lord watches over the city, the guards stand watch for nothing.” A guard can stay up all night. But God never even blinks. He's the One truly keeping watch.

So the song says we don't have to lie awake worrying. God takes care of His people even while they sleep! We can rest, because He never does.

And then the song says something sweet: children are a gift from God. Boys and girls are a happy present He gives to families. You are one of God's good gifts.
