Psalm 136 is a thank-you song made for two voices. One person sings a reason to thank God, and everybody sings the same happy answer back - over and over.
Today's Story
Imagine a big room full of God's people, all singing together. One singer starts. Then everyone sings the very same line back, like a happy chorus you already know.
The singer says, “Give thanks to the Lord, because He is good.” And everyone answers, “His faithful love lasts forever!”
The singer keeps going, naming all the wonderful things God has done. “He made the sky.” His faithful love lasts forever! “He spread out the earth.” His faithful love lasts forever! “He made the sun to shine in the day, and the moon and stars at night.” His faithful love lasts forever!
Then the song remembers a true story. Long ago God's people were stuck, with the sea in front of them. God opened a path right through the water and brought them out safe. His faithful love lasts forever!
On and on the song goes. God feeds every living thing. God remembers us when we are small and weak. And every single time, everyone sings the same answer back, because it is always true.
“His faithful love lasts forever!”

Talk About It
- What is one good thing that happened to you today? Let's say thank You to God for it together.
- This song says the same line over and over: “His faithful love lasts forever.” Why do you think they wanted to sing it so many times?
- God's love for you never stops - not even when you make a mistake. How does that make you feel?
