Psalm 135 is a big, happy praise song. It starts and ends with the same joyful words: “Praise the Lord!” In between, it tells us why.
Today's Story
Imagine a big crowd of people in God's house, all singing together at the top of their voices: “Praise the Lord! Praise His name! It is good to sing to Him!”
Why are they so happy? Because God is wonderful, and they want to tell everyone about Him.
The song says God is greater than anything. He made the whole world. He makes the clouds rise up. He sends the lightning and the rain. He lets the wind out to blow. The weather you see out your window is in God's hands!
The song also remembers how God took care of His people long ago. He rescued them when they were stuck, and He led them safely to a good new home. God did not forget them. He never forgets His people.
Then the song says something to think about. Some people back then made statues out of wood and metal and called them gods. But the song says those statues have mouths that cannot speak, eyes that cannot see, and ears that cannot hear. They cannot do anything at all!
Our God is not like that. He really sees you. He really hears you. He really helps you. He is alive! So the people sing it one more time: “Praise the Lord!”

Talk About It
- The song says God makes the clouds, the rain, and the wind. What is your favorite kind of weather? It came from God's hands!
- A pretend statue cannot see or hear or help. But God really can. What is something you would love to tell the living God today?
- If you made up your own praise song about God, what one wonderful thing about Him would you put in it?
