Psalms 148 for Kids

For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up

Psalm 148 is a happy song that calls on everything - everything in the whole world - to praise God.

Today's Story

Imagine the biggest team cheer ever - only it is not for a team. It is for God.

The song starts way up high in the sky. “Praise the Lord, sun! Praise Him, moon! Praise Him, all you shining stars!” Even the clouds and the bright blue sky get a turn.

Then the song comes down to the earth. “Praise the Lord from the ground! Praise Him, giant sea creatures and deep oceans! Praise Him, lightning and snow and wind!”

It keeps going. Tall mountains and little hills. Apple trees and tall cedar trees. Wild animals and farm animals. Tiny bugs that crawl and birds that fly. Every one of them is told: praise the Lord!

And then, at the very end, the song calls out to people. Kings and ordinary folks. Grandmas and grandpas. Moms and dads. And - yes - children too! You are invited to the cheer. Everything God made gets to praise the One who made it.

A Big Word

Memory Verse

Talk About It

  1. The song says the sun and stars and animals all praise God. How do you think a mountain or a tree can praise God?
  2. If you joined the big cheer right now, what would you want to thank God for first?
  3. The song saved a special spot for children. How does it feel to know God wants to hear from you too?
