Psalms 43 for Kids

For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up

Psalm 43 is the second half of a song that started in Psalm 42. The singer asks God to send His light to lead him all the way back home to God.

Today's Story

Have you ever walked into a dark room and felt around for the light switch? Until the light comes on, you can't see where to go.

The person singing this song felt a bit like that. His days felt dim and a little lost. So he asked God for the very thing he needed. “Send me Your light and Your truth,” he prayed. “Let them lead me. Let them bring me back to You.”

He knew that God's light could show him the right way to walk, like a lamp on a dark path. And he knew exactly where he wanted that path to lead - straight to God, the One who made his heart happy and full of joy.

Then he said the same gentle words from before, talking kindly to his own heart: “Why are you so sad, my heart? Why are you upset? Put your hope in God!”

He reminded himself one more time: God is good, God is near, and the sad feelings would not get the last word. “I will praise Him again,” he sang, “my Savior and my God.”

  2. The singer asked God's light to lead him. When you're not sure what to do, how can you ask God to show you the way?
  3. He kept telling his heart to put its hope in God. Why do you think he had to remind himself more than once?
