Psalms 68 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

Psalm 68 is a big, happy parade song about how strong and good God is. The most tender part shows that God especially loves to take care of children and people who feel all alone.

Today's Story

Imagine a great big, happy parade. There are singers in front and musicians behind, with drums and tambourines, and everyone is celebrating because God is so good. That is what Psalm 68 feels like.

The song says God is strong - the strongest of all. When God stands up, anything bad has to run away, the way smoke disappears in the wind. But good people? They are not scared at all. They are so happy they jump for joy!

Then the song says the most tender, beautiful thing about our big, strong God. It says, “God is a father to children who have no father. He is a helper to those who feel all alone. God gives lonely people a family to belong to.”

Isn't that wonderful? The God who is strong enough to scatter every bad thing is also gentle enough to be a daddy to a child who needs one. He notices the people everyone else forgets.

The song also says God carries us. Every single day, He picks up our heavy loads, like a strong friend who carries your backpack when it is too heavy for you.

So the people sing and sing: “Praise God! He is strong, and He is kind, and He takes care of us every day!”
