Psalms 9 for Kids

For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up

Psalm 9 is a thank-you song King David sang to God with his whole heart.

Today's Story

King David had so much to be thankful for that he just had to sing about it. “Lord, I will thank You with my whole heart,” he sang. “I will tell about all the wonderful things You have done.”

David remembered all the times God had helped him. When things went wrong, God showed up. When people were unkind, God did what was right. God is a fair Judge - He always sees the truth and He never makes a mistake.

Then David sang one of the best parts of the whole song. “The Lord is a safe place,” he said. He is like a strong, high tower you can run into when you're scared. Anyone who is in trouble can run to God and be safe.

And here is the most tender part: God never forgets people who are hurting. When someone is sad and lonely and feels like nobody sees them, God sees. God remembers. God never says, “I'm too busy.”

So David sang it out loud: people who know God's name can trust Him, because He has never once let down the people who look for Him.

Talk About It

  1. What is one thing that happened this week that you want to say thank You to God for?
  2. David says God is a safe place, like a strong tower you can run into. Where do you feel safest? How is God even safer than that?
  3. God never forgets people who are hurting. Do you know someone who is sad or lonely? How could you help them feel cared about?
