For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up
Psalm 96 is a song about good news that is too good to keep secret. It says, “Sing to God - and tell everybody how wonderful He is!”
Today's Story
When something really good happens, what do you want to do? You want to tell someone! “Guess what?!” The good news is just too big to keep inside.
This song feels exactly like that. It begins, “Sing to the Lord a new song. Sing to the Lord, all the earth.” It wants everybody, everywhere, to sing about how good God is.
And it doesn't stop there. The song says, “Tell about His glory among the nations. Tell every people on earth about the wonderful things He has done.” The singer wants kids and grownups all over the world - in every country, who speak every language - to hear about God.
Then something amazing happens. The song says even the sky and the sea and the fields should be glad! It says the trees of the forest will sing for joy. It is like all of creation joins the music.
So the song is one big, happy invitation. God is wonderful, and that news is too good to keep to yourself. You can sing it. You can share it. And one day, the whole world will sing it together.
A Big Word
Memory Verse
Talk About It
- When something good happens to you, who is the first person you want to tell? Why?
- This song wants the WHOLE world to hear about God. Who is one person you could tell something good about God?
- The song says even the trees sing for joy. If a tree could sing, what do you think it would say to God?
