Psalms 98 for Kids

For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up

Psalm 98 is one of the happiest songs in the Bible. It is a big, joyful concert - and even the rivers and mountains join in!

Today's Story

This song begins, “Sing a new song to the Lord. He has done wonderful things.” The singer is so happy about all the good things God has done that one old song isn't enough - he needs a brand-new one!

And he wants it to be loud and joyful. He says, “Shout to the Lord with joy, everyone on earth. Burst into joyful songs and music!” Then he grabs all the instruments he can think of - harps to strum, trumpets to blow, horns to toot. It is a whole band celebrating God!

But here is the most wonderful part. The song says the people aren't the only ones singing. Listen to this: “Let the sea roar. Let the rivers clap their hands. Let the mountains sing together for joy.”

Can you imagine it? The ocean roaring like a big happy cheer. Rivers splashing like clapping hands. Mountains humming a song. The whole world joining one giant concert to say thank You to God!

Everything God made is happy because God is good. And you get to be part of the music too. So go ahead - sing!
