Psalms 99 for Kids

For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up

Psalm 99 is a song about how big and good God is. He is the King over everything - and He still listens when you call.

Today's Story

Imagine the biggest, kindest King there ever was. Bigger than the mountains. Stronger than the sea. He sits on a throne so high that the whole earth can see it.

That is what Psalm 99 is singing about. It says, “The Lord is King. Let the nations tremble!” When people see how great God is, it makes their hearts go quiet and wide, the way you feel when you look up at a giant mountain.

Three times the song says the same special word: holy. “He is holy. He is holy. The Lord our God is holy.” It means God is good all the way through, with nothing bad in Him anywhere.

But here is the surprise. This huge, holy King is not far away. The song remembers three people - Moses, Aaron, and Samuel. When they called out to God, He answered. He spoke to them. He forgave them when they did wrong.

So the song says, “Honor the Lord our God. Worship Him.” The King who made the stars wants to hear your voice too.

A Big Word

Talk About It

  1. When have you seen something so big it made you feel small and amazed - like the ocean, a tall mountain, or a sky full of stars? That is a little taste of how big God is.
  2. The song says the great King answered Moses, Aaron, and Samuel when they called. What would you like to talk to God about today?
  3. God is “holy” - good all the way through. What is one good thing God has done that you want to say thank You for?
