Titus 1 for Kids

For Kids · 4 min with a grown-up

Titus is a letter. A man named Paul wrote it to his friend Titus to help God's family love God and love each other.

Today's Story

Long ago, a man named Paul loved telling people about Jesus. He had a young helper and friend named Titus. Paul cared about Titus the way a dad cares about his own child.

Titus was on an island called Crete. There were lots of people there who were just learning to follow Jesus. So Paul wrote Titus a letter to help him.

“Titus,” Paul wrote, “help the families on the island pick good leaders. Pick people who are kind. Pick people who tell the truth. Pick people who do not get angry fast and do not love money too much.”

Paul wanted leaders who would love their families, share their food, and welcome strangers with a smile. He wanted helpers who say true things, not silly things that mix people up.

Paul said something important too. He said, “The things we believe should show up in the way we live.” It is not enough to say we love God. We get to show it — by being kind and gentle and true, every single day.

  2. Paul said the things we believe should show up in how we live. What is one kind thing you could do today to show God's love?
  3. Why do you think telling the truth is so important to God?
