This is the last part of Paul's letter to Titus. He saves the most wonderful good news for the end.
Today's Story
Paul was almost done with his letter. He wanted to remind Titus, and all of God's family, how to live. “Be ready to do good in every way,” he wrote. “Be gentle. Do not say mean things about people. Be kind to everyone.”
Then Paul shared the most beautiful part of all. He said, “Remember, there was a time when we were not kind. We were unkind and got things wrong.”
“But then God showed up,” Paul said. And here is the part to hold onto: God did not save us because we were so good. He saved us because He is so kind. He washed us clean and made us brand new, like a fresh start.
Think about that! We did not earn it. We could never earn it. God rescued us simply because He loves us and He is full of mercy — that means He is gentle with us even when we mess up.
And because God was so kind to us, Paul says we get to be kind to others. When you have been given a big, warm gift like that, you just want to share it. So go on — be ready to do good in every way.
A Big Word
Memory Verse
Talk About It
- Has someone ever been kind and gentle with you after you got something wrong? How did that feel?
- God saved us because He is kind, not because we earned it. Why is that the best kind of news?
- Because God was so kind to us, we get to be kind to others. Who is one person you could be extra kind to this week?
