Zechariah 8 for Kids

For Kids · 3 min with a grown-up

God gave Zechariah a picture of a happy future — and it is wonderful.

Today's Story

God had so many happy promises for His people, and He could hardly wait to tell them.

“I am coming back to live with you,” God said. “Your city will be full and warm and good again.”

Then God painted a beautiful picture with His words. “Grandmas and grandpas will sit out in the streets in the sunshine, safe and happy, leaning on their walking sticks. And the streets will be filled with boys and girls — laughing and playing and running all around.”

Can you imagine it? A whole town full of children playing, and nobody afraid.

God promised good food would grow. The grapevines would be heavy with grapes. Soft rain would fall. People who had felt weak and scared would feel strong and brave.

And God said, “Be kind. Tell the truth to each other. Love being fair. Let your hearts be full of peace.”

He even said that people from far-off lands would come and say, “Let's go too! We want to be where God is!”

What a happy promise. God loves His people, and He loves to be with them.
