All through this little book, God has been warning His people so they would turn back to Him.
Now comes the happiest part of all — what God is really like once His people come home.
Today's Story
The book of Zephaniah began with hard warnings. But it does not end there. It ends with singing.
God promised that one day He would wipe away every sad and sorry thing. He said, “I will take away your shame. You won't be afraid of anything anymore.” He would gather His people the way a shepherd gathers every last lamb — nobody left out, nobody lost.
And then God said something so warm it almost doesn't feel real. Listen: “The Lord your God is with you. He is mighty enough to save you. He will take great delight in you. In his love he will no longer punish you. Instead, he will sing for joy because of you.”
Did you hear that? God doesn't just put up with His people. He delights in them. He is so happy with you that He sings — the way a mom or dad hums a song over a sleepy little baby they love.
Stop and picture it. The God who made the stars, leaning close, singing a happy song… over you. That is how the warnings end. They end in a song.
A Big Word
Memory Verse
Talk About It
- Who is someone who lights up and smiles big when you walk in the room? That happy feeling is a little taste of how God feels about you.
- God doesn't just allow His people — He delights in them and sings over them. How does it feel to know God is happy about you?
- If God is humming a happy song over you right now, what do you think His song would say?
