What Does Lamentations 1:11 Mean?
Hunger reduces every other value to nothing. The people barter their most precious possessions simply for food to keep themselves alive. The treasures they once prized now buy a mouthful of bread. Famine has stripped life down to its barest need, and the dignity of the nation is sold off piece by piece.
Again the city turns to God: 'see, O LORD, and consider.' The plea is not for vengeance here but to be seen, to have her degradation witnessed by the One who matters.
