What Does Luke 17:35 Mean?
The second picture moves from night to morning, from rest to work. Grinding the day's flour took two women at the hand-mill, seated close, hands moving in rhythm — companions in the most ordinary shared labor of village life.
Same task, same hour, same stone — different outcomes. Outward life can be identical while inward allegiance is worlds apart, and the day of the Son of man reads hearts, not job descriptions. Until then no one can sort the two by sight, and we are not asked to try. We are asked to be found faithful at our own millstone: hands busy, heart awake, ready for the Lord at whatever hour He comes.
