What Does Luke 19:30 Mean?
Jesus describes what the two disciples will find before they find it: the village, the tethered colt, the detail that no one has ever ridden it. An animal never yet ridden or put to work was the kind Israel reserved for sacred purposes.
The unridden colt also fulfills a promise. Zechariah had told the daughter of Zion that her King would come to her lowly and riding upon a colt. By choosing this mount Jesus declares both his kingship and its character: royal, holy, and meek.
