What Does Luke 2:32 Mean?
Simeon's song crests in the language of Isaiah, who foretold a servant given as a light to the Gentiles, carrying salvation to the end of the earth (Isaiah 42:6; 49:6). This child is that light, revelation breaking upon nations that sat in darkness, and at the same time the glory of Israel, the crown of His own people's long story.
One child, two horizons: the nations illumined, Israel glorified. In Jesus the line between insider and outsider is not erased but answered; both find their hope in Him.
