What Does Luke 20:35 Mean?
Jesus now speaks of 'that world,' the age of the resurrection. The arranging of marriages that drives the Sadducees' puzzle — a provision framed for a world where lines die out and names must be preserved — does not carry forward into the age where death is abolished. Their seven-husband dilemma dissolves: the question was built for a world the resurrection surpasses.
'Accounted worthy to obtain that world' — the words present the coming age as a gift weighed out by God, not an automatic sequel to this life. Resurrection life is not this life resumed but this life transfigured.
