What Does Luke 21:3 Mean?
Jesus speaks with the solemn formula he reserves for weighty truths: of a truth I say unto you. The comparison he draws is not between her coins and one rich man's gift but between her offering and all of theirs combined. By every human measure the claim is absurd; the treasury's ledger would scarcely record her.
