While the blessing is still in motion, Jesus is parted from them and carried up into heaven — the ascension, which Luke narrates again at the opening of Acts (Acts 1:9-11). He departs with his hands still raised over his people.
He ascends blessing, and in a real sense the blessing has never stopped: he ever lives to intercede for those who come to God by him (Hebrews 7:25).
