The day after healing the centurion's servant, Jesus walks to Nain, a small town southwest of the Sea of Galilee, a full day's journey from Capernaum. Disciples and a great crowd travel with Him, drawn by what they have seen and heard.
Nain appears nowhere else in Scripture; one visit from Jesus gave it a name remembered for two thousand years. No one summons Him there — no messenger, no plea. He simply goes, and His timing will prove exact: He reaches the gate at the very hour a funeral comes out of it.
