Jesus turns bodily toward the woman while still speaking to Simon: "Seest thou this woman?" Simon had seen only a category — "a sinner." Then the inventory begins: no water was offered for the guest's feet, a basic courtesy of the day, but she has washed His feet with her own tears and dried them with her hair.
