What Does Luke 7:50 Mean?
Jesus ignores the murmuring and gives the woman His final word: "Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace" — literally, go into peace, as into a new country. Not her tears, not the ointment, but the trust that brought her to His feet has received the gift.
Faith was the hand that received what mercy gave; the love and the tears were its overflow. "Saved" reaches deeper than the table dispute — rescued, made whole, set right with God. And "go in peace" gives her a future: she leaves no longer defined as "a sinner in the city," but as one defined by forgiveness. So Christ still dismisses the forgiven — saved through faith, sent into peace.
