What Does Luke 8:22 Mean?
A new scene opens on a certain day. Jesus enters a ship with His disciples and says, let us go over unto the other side of the lake. At His word they launch out onto the water.
The crossing begins with His intention; there is a shore He means to reach and, as the next scene will show, a single tormented man waiting on it. The storm that is coming will not cancel the sentence He has spoken. When Christ says, let us go over, He is announcing arrival as well as departure, and He is in the boat for the whole of the passage.
